1. Five Theories Of Quality Management And Continuous Improvement:
Communication is an essential driver of continuous improvement and quality management programs. However, communication applying visual management can picture the approach and goals of continuous improvement through quality management. Additionally, it is used as an important tool to motivate the workforce to contribute to the changes by conveying to them the early outcomes and desired benefits (Eaidgah et al.2016).
When an organization understands the needs of its customers, it has an improved scope of identifying the way it can acquire appropriate people, processes and materials in place for meeting and exceeding the expectations of the customers. On the other hand, lean businesses end up developing a focus on consumer value and to minimise the cost to the consumers, the organizations applying lean production principles are striving to eliminates the errors to cut down the added cost of components and reworking parts.
Total quality management highly depends on employees working in the organization for improving processes and quality. Every employee from managing directors to the lower level staff is engaged in the process of continuous improvement in the business using this approach. Therefore, the companies need to provide them with proper training in techniques, tools, and concepts of quality management. Additionally, an environment of teamwork would be created for empowering the employees to contribute their best effort to improve quality and procedures (Eaidgah et al.2016).
To ensure continuous improvement besides quality management, it is essential depending on assessable data while making decisions for the improvement of the company. However, tools like process mapping, bar graphs and statistical process control could be used for identifying the quality issues with designing the strategies for assessing the success of quality management. Flow charts can be used to identify the organizational weaknesses duplications of stages in workflow and so on. Moreover, data can be followed to track the gaps in quality and thus to identify the areas which require improvements (Doppelt, 2017).
A total quality management approach should be involved in consistent incremental improvisation which again would impact the quality of products and processes of the business. A continuous improvement theory allows the workforce to strive for no defects as well as effectiveness in all the organizational processes. It seeks areas needing improvisation proactively.
