The Mary Shelley story Frankenstein is one of the greatest classics of our time. it is a novel where loneliness, domestic affection, isolation, ambition,  human limits,  nature as a sublime, destructive cycle of Revenge and the nature of prejudice and the loss of Innocence are examined in a manner that showcases society as a mirror of their notions.

Frankenstein the book by Mary Shelly.

If you read this book with full engagement. you realize that in the preface the author states that Frankenstein is a book that depicts domestic affection.

Themes of the Frankenstein

you may be perplexed what the point of the book is in saying that it is domestic affection. But it is full of destruction,  tragedies, casualty and sorrow.  It is all provoked by Victor and monsters having no relationship, no obligation and no fear from family or society.

In simple terms, you can say that the story depicts how marvelously society fails us. and how we are living in a society that does not care for loving beings.  In the story nobody is evil, the evilness in society forces us to do something acceptable eventually to society.

The isolation

If you consolidate on Victor. He is entirely away from any human Association, any human connection, any human exchange which results in isolation directing him away from all the duties that he has and which becomes the reason for taking actions that cause chaos.

Monster and loneliness

Even the Monster has a reason behind his loneliness. He was away from society and the way he wanted to make Victor feel nearly how isolated he was and he wanted that feeling to be portrayed inside Victor. Society never accepted him.

The glory to destruction

If you notice the characters Victor and Walton, they have a deep ambition to change the way society looks at them, to find glory, to find respect in society. When their ambition reaches an edge, it becomes the reason for their downfall.

Love that they have recognition, to be acclaimed by society. This makes them fantastic and they do not think about how their actions always have equal and opposite reactions, in that case, the creation they created evolved into a god-like figure. they were expecting to become the father of god they developed regardless they become a father of a demon who wants to destroy the world.

This aspect and this theme discusses how humans are driven by glory, ambition and recognition in society but do you not think their action has some negative impact as well?

Society and its standards

If you centralize the monster depiction in the book. you will figure out how this creature was created to be one of the affectionate spirits. However, gradually society’s suffering Mistreatment and isolation converted him to become the monster he was created for.

When in the store we realize that Victor and De Lacey family both cheated the monster in such a manner which gives him suffering, lonesome and discomfort.  In order to break from the cycle of inequity, he becomes the monster and retaliates frustrated by society’s Biased view of the Monsters.

People who are distinct from them, how society judges and discriminates against those people who do not fit in society’s standards and that drives Monster to retaliate and go for Vengeance and revenge.

Revenge to accept

Taking revenge ensures that human society truly accepts him.

Human society appreciates him as we know that the one Desire he had was to connect with society to get accepted by society.

Regardless, this demonstrates that revenge evolves so precious and considerable that he will forget his major aim to be expected by society.

Nature of prejudice

One of the major themes of books that the author wishes to explore is the nature of prejudice.

how the monster in Frankenstein was created and how his appearance makes people judge him by his physical appearance. He was not able to fit in the society’s constructed accepted standards. That’s why people always believe that he is a Monster, insane and he is not trustworthy. He was contrasting, he was full of kindness, compassion and love for society. Nevertheless, society never accepted anybody for their love, and care because he was someone who did not look physically as society accepts people as human.
