The data accumulated for the study analyze the pattern of migration, tracking millions of these birds, drawing the map and how the plastic pollution is covering numerous oceans and influencing these birds.
As we have mentioned that these birds are migratory and they go for food searching. These birds visit far from seas which are way too far from last, still having plastics. These seas can have international aspects involved. The simple answer to the above situation is that the international collaboration to eradicate the plastic waste from the sea to prevent the loss of biodiversity.
The major reason behind these pollutants accumulating in the ocean is that the ocean currents have a role to play. These ocean currents collect these waste which is a swirling collection popularly known as gyres. These are the explanations, the gyres we find a gigantic number of plastic in the ocean. These sea birds sometimes get confused and small plastic debris can be eaten by them as they think it’s a food. These plastic waste can be harmful for them, first it becomes the reason for injuries, sometimes it can lead to poisoning, even the birds can encounter starvation. The seabirds petrels are more prone to have issues.
Plastic may have numerous toxic elements which can cause harm to seabirds. As we are aware that each aspect or each element of the food web and ecosystem is essential for maintenance of the environment although Petrels are quite essential for food the web still is not analysed thoroughly. These potential threats such as plastic pollution can be harmful.
The primary ambition of the study was to highlight the ever growing issues of sea pollution especially the plastic pollution. The plastic in the ocean started to collect in such regions where it’s quite not possible to reach as they are far away from the land. Due to ocean current the plastic is everywhere.
