The circumstances

Matilda wants extravagances in her life; she can live her life in an extremely comfortable manner as her husband earns enough to sustain both of them. She had a simple life but because of her demands or overly materialistic thinking. She borrows that necklace which is lost at the party.  it becomes the turning point in her life.  It becomes the life-changing point in her life and it demonstrates how her acquisitiveness and selfishness created such a situation that her husband has to abandon his wishes and Cravings. They have to live a life that they do not disturb and try to accentuate how voracious nature and how the dream without any hard work can be destructive for anyone.

Having dissatisfaction in life is normal but taking shortcuts to execute something is never going to fulfill your dream.
